From Jainendra Kumar

Hi, all humankind!
It is the space where any body, who had/has some connection with the College of Commerce, Patna 800 020, Bihar (INDIA), is invited to post his/her comments with his/her address, position, place of living today and period and type of association in the past or at present.
Well, I am Jainendra Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Botany and Biotechnology in this college, at present. I hold this position since December 1999. Most of the people here in Bihar related to Science teaching, specially Biology, know me as I have been a popular teacher in my prime, and probably, even today. I could make a small niche in the area of research also, and, by that I do claim to have some aquantances at global level.
My period of association with COC, Patna is since 1981 to the present.
My position: Professor & Head, Dept. of Botany & Biotech. (Modern Biology).
My comments: The College, where I have been putting in my services with all my sincererity, vision and honesty of purpose since long, has a high potentiality to become an institution of high repute at National level. It has all the infrastructure that a good college should have. Old timers must be fond of the ambience and the level of sincererity that was the hallmark of this institution since the very inception. I shall like to tell them that the college has now come a long way since those times, and, has got modernized. Most of the colleges in Bihar have been known for individual brilliance except those that have been known for other reasons - such as for campus upkeep, level of discipline and sense of belonging in faculty members/staff, or, because of great alumni. COC is known for all these!
Belief: I strongly believe that it is the merit and hard work of the "gifted" students that take them to heights, and, teachers have very little to contribute to their progress. Isn't it? I feel very sorry if a teacher tries to take credit for making a student go up in life! I know many of you may not agree!
Name: Dr. Jainendra Kumar

I have been in association with the College of Commerce, Patna even before I joined here as a lecturer. This was because I happened to have some close and famous relatives of mine working in the college as teacher since olden days. One such famous name is that of Dr. C.P. Sharma - a very respectable and famous name in the department of English since the formative phase of the college. If you have been an aluminus of this campus, you must be remembering this genleman of high repute. I may give you a list of many such brilliant faculty members of that era. The college has definitely modernized in infrastructure and general facilities in recent times, but, the quality of teaching and learning in those days had created a special kind of ambience which the old timers are still fond of. Excuse me, if I am becoming nostalgic. Since 1980's, I am working here as a humble teacher, and, I have also seen the ups and downs experienced by the campus in the era of student unrest during 70's. The present principal Dr. S.P. Singh deserves credit for bringing in a new era of modernization and infrastructural development. Kudos to him. On my part, I also invite the old alumni placed at different places in exalted position to respond, and, write few lines here. It would be a return-back gift to the college. With thanks.

As a language teacher, I don't really think I can carry a bag full of some do's and do not's.Rather what I can do is to create an environment which will foster learner autonomy,to motivate my students for becoming better language users,to improve their interpersonal skills and to enable them to stand the test of 21st century ,rich in technology.
The need of the hour is : as teachers, we must stand together, interact and share information and work collaboratively in every possible way. It's not I but we who can make this world a better place.

Dear bloggers,
I have not been an alumnus of the College of Commerce, Patna. Either, I have not been associated with it as an employee or anything! Last year, I had an opportunity to deliver a lecture on modern media at College of Commerce, Patna. I found that the college is very modern with faculties in commensurate with the modern trends in higher education. Some departments such as that of biotechnology must be one of the best in India! I wish the old boys/alumni of the college come up to get this college reach the pinnacle.
With good wishes to one and all.

Good to see COC on blog. I did my Ll. B. from this college and want to thanks all the professors/lecturers. Currently I am working with one of the MNC in IT as a Software Engineer which is entirely different from what I did from this college but still I love the days that I spent in the COC campus.

I want to suggest on administration part which needs to be revamped and required to be more transparent. Rules / regulations related with all the activities like admission, examination, administration and different processes needs to be published on the website. This will help students in getting things done appropriately and in timely manner.

I have a great proud on this college where admission in LLB is taken without notification that's why students having less marks get admitted and having high marks get driven out from their career. This is not less than interesting in law for Equality and Natural justice in Republic of India.

Its a very nice to share my experiences of college of commerce,in dept.of Biotechnology, under the mentorship of Prof.Jainendra kumar.
I was the student of session 05-08.Generally,it is very difficult task to introduce something new in the society without any personal gain, but their are some exceptions, jainendra sir,is one of them.he has not only started biotechnoly in UG courses but also courses bioinformatics, which has made the study complete.
Every step what he has taken was single n unique, whether it was STRIDE or GLOBAL SCIENCE CONFERANCE.These things really make me proud n honoured.I request sir,to arrange alumini function every year,so that we get a chance to interact with sir and our juniors, which will help both of us symbiotectically.I thank to sir,for giving us this platform to share our feeling.

i am very glad to see that many people are sharing their views about college of commerce.but i find something missing in these all posts.people do not critisize this college.don't feel bad, critisism is not always for bad purpose.it shows your weakness and encourage you to find a solution.cut off of this college is very high especially in Isc.after scoring 85-90%,student as well as techer are not in class.student generally, joined coaching classes for the prepration of IIT,AIEEE and teacher does not care about classes.an environment that was started in science college,i do not see in college of commerce.teacher are able to teach everything that coaching classes teaches students.teachers of coaching classes are not from the different planet.so,please administration think about this problem.every student can not afford the fee of coaching classes
